CASE
Sustainability report 2024
Background
TePe is a Swedish oral health company in a growth phase, expanding both its global presence and its long-term sustainability ambitions. Sustainability is increasingly integrated into TePe’s brand strategy, business planning, and commercial priorities.
All product development and manufacturing take place in Malmö, where TePe works closely with dental professionals to develop high-quality solutions used in over 80 countries..
About the Project
Beyond meeting legal and due diligence requirements, the Sustainability Report 2024 was developed as a strategic communication asset.
The goal was to create a report that helped internal stakeholders understand TePe’s sustainability strategy and clearly communicate it to external audiences such as subsidiaries, distributors, and business partners. Internal feedback highlighted a need to simplify sustainability language and frameworks into communication that was easier to understand, explain, and use in everyday dialogue.
Compared to previous years, the 2024 report also marked a shift towards a clearer external stakeholder perspective.
My Role
As Project Lead, I was responsible for the overall communication process of the Sustainability Report.
My role included building subject matter understanding, structuring the project and timelines, leading cross-functional collaboration, developing the narrative and content drafts, and ensuring the report aligned with TePe’s sustainability strategy, brand direction, and governance requirements.
I worked closely with the Sustainability Manager, Communications Manager, copywriter, and both in-house and external design teams throughout the process
My process
Building understanding
As one of my first projects at TePe, I began by thoroughly studying the sustainability framework, reporting requirements, and long-term goals. I worked closely with the Sustainability Manager to gain a clear understanding of both current initiatives and future direction.
This foundation made it possible to translate complex sustainability topics into clear and credible communication.
Structuring the work
I developed a time plan and established a working group with regular bi-weekly meetings, complemented by weekly check-ins when needed. This created alignment across sustainability, communication, copy, and design, and ensured steady progress through review and approval stages.
Clear roles, milestones, and review steps were defined early to support a structured and predictable process.
Defining the narrative
Together with the Communications Manager, I helped define the overall direction of the report, including the shift from a primarily internal focus to an external stakeholder perspective.
The content was structured around TePe’s sustainability framework, aligned with ESG principles and built on the three pillars: Good Product, Good People, and Good Practice. This created a clear and consistent logic connecting sustainability performance to business strategy and brand values.
Content development and interviews
I conducted interviews and wrote narrative-style articles in collaboration with oral health experts and sustainability specialists. The focus was on making complex topics such as climate impact, net-zero ambitions, scope 1–3 emissions, and mass balance approaches understandable without compromising accuracy or credibility.
I developed the first content drafts and, together with the working group, oversaw revisions before the material entered formal approval and legal review.
Visual planning and collaboration
To support efficient production, I defined graphic needs early in the process so the in-house design team could plan their work in parallel with content development.
I worked closely with designers and subject matter experts to ensure that visuals, infographics, and interviews accurately reflected TePe’s sustainability strategy and long-term ambitions.
Activating the report internally
To ensure the report was actively used, I co-led a one-hour internal presentation together with the Sustainability Manager. The session focused on explaining the structure and key messages of the report, introducing the supporting communication assets, and showing how the content could be used in everyday dialogue with external stakeholders.
Outcome
The Sustainability Report 2024 became more than a compliance document. It evolved into a practical communication asset supported by internal education, helping stakeholders across the organisation better understand TePe’s sustainability journey and communicate it with confidence.
The project strengthened the integration of sustainability into TePe’s brand, business, and commercial strategy, and established a clearer foundation for future sustainability communication.
